This morning we
visit the Highland Wildlife Park, set in 260 acres
of beautiful Strathspey. All the animals here are
indigenous to Scotland and some are now extinct in
the wild, while others are endangered.
We rejoin the
train at Aviemore and head north to Inverness before
turning west towards Kyle of Lochalsh, on what is
arguably the most scenic route in Britain.
|
At Kyle we disembark
to visit Eilean Donan, which stands on a rocky promontory
at the meeting point of three sea lochs. It is the
most photographed castle in Scotland.
After our formal
dinner Mary Strachan entertains with her clarsach
in the Observation Car. We stable overnight in Kyle.
