From the kilted piper who greets you as you board
the train, to the steward who brings an early morning cup of tea
or a warming drink after the chef's delectable dinner, the handpicked
team on The Royal Scotsman provide the highest standards in hotel
comfort.
The 14-strong team, known as 'the Crew', provide a remarkable
level of service, contributing enormously to the enjoyment of
the tour - truly the highest standards yet reached in railway
travel. They clearly have pleasure in their work and take pride
in maintaining the reputation of 'the world's most exclusive train'.
There is something particularly enjoyable about dining on the
move; the ambience resembles a country house on wheels. Our Chefs
receive many compliments on the meals on board which reflect the
seasonal changes and are said to be the best on any train service
in the world. A full Scottish cooked breakfast is available every
day; Continental breakfast can be served in your cabin. Luncheon
one day might be Roast Guinea Fowl with Wild Mushroom Risotto
followed by Millefeuille of Poached Pear and Berries accompanied
by Julienas, Droubin 1994.
A well-informed Guide accompanies the passenger to all the off-train
activities in The Royal Scotsman's liveried motor coach in the
charge of our experienced driver. Our team of Guides are part
of the excellent service on The Royal Scotsman Tours; their experience
and courtesy contribute to the warmth and care provided by the
whole Crew. Amongst these specialist guides are Iris Barry, Jennifer
Riley, Linda Melville and Ann Montgomery. All our Guides have
in-depth knowledge of the places and areas visited on all the
tours.
